Smart Board User Guide Windows-based Computers
- The Smart Board should always be moved in its
lowest position.
- The projector needs to be about 6 – 8 feet from
the Smart Board.
- The Smart Board connects to the computer via a
long USB cord. The squared side connects to the right side of the board;
the flat side to a USB port on the computer.
- The computer connects to the projector via the
gray cord with the blue ends. If you are using a Macintosh computer, you
will need a connecter which plugs into the Mac. There are 2 different
kinds of connecters, so make sure you have the right one.
- If you are using speakers, they should be
connected to the audio output jack on the computer.
- Turn on the projector using the switch in the
back, and then push the green button on top.
- Turn on the computer. A Macintosh will
automatically connect to the projector in about 30 seconds. If you are
using a PC, you will probably have to tell the computer you are using a
projector by pushing certain keys. With a Dell, it is usually the Function
(Fn) key and the 8 key.
- Push the 2 center buttons on the Smart Board
tray to bring up the orientation function. Carefully touch each “X” to
position the projector. If either the projector or the Smart Board is
moved, you will probably need to redo the orientation function.
- The left button on the Smart Board tray brings
up a keyboard.
Remember:
- Your finger is the mouse.
- You should remove only one tool (colored “pens”
or eraser).
- When you are writing on the Smart Board, you are
essentially writing on a transparency. You must save your work to preserve
it. If you accidentally erase your work, you can launch the Floating Tool
toolbar and press the Undo button.
